Monument a la dona

Monument a la dona is a bronze sculpture by the Spanish artist Joan Miró, created in 1972 and dedicated to women. It consists of two parts, a head and a body, and is also known as "Miró's Egg." The work was first exhibited at the La Lonja gallery in 1978 before being purchased by the Palma city council in 1980. In 1988 it was restored after concerns that the head and body might separate. At Miró’s own wish, it was installed at its current location near the walls of the Royal Palace of La Almudaina and the Royal Garden in Palma, Mallorca, after his death in 1983.
