Rosari Monumental de Montserrat

Rosari Monumental de Montserrat is a religious sculptural ensemble along the path from Montserrat Monastery to the Holy Cave, where the image of the Virgin was found in 880. The route was carved into the mountain along the Montserrat massif between 1691 and 1704, thanks to the patronage of Gertrudis de Camporrell, Marchioness of Tamarit. The sculptural groups dedicated to the Rosary and the fifteen mysteries of the Virgin were created between 1896 and 1916, funded by private donations, especially from confraternities and Catholic institutions. Architects including Antoni Gaudí, Josep Puig i Cadafalch, and Enric Sagnier, and sculptors such as Josep Llimona and the Vallmitjana brothers took part. The monument is classified as a Local Cultural Asset of Catalan Cultural Heritage.
