Monumento dell'Indipendenza

Monumento dell'Indipendenza, also known as Monumento ai Morti per la Patria and locally nicknamed Teresona, is a marble sculpture by Luigi Borro in the historic center of Treviso, in Piazza dell'Indipendenza. It stands beside the Palazzo dei Trecento and the building that later became the Chamber of Commerce. The work depicts the personification of the province of Treviso trampling the chains of Habsburg rule, holding a lance with the Italian tricolour and a laurel crown. It commemorates Treviso patriots of the Risorgimento who died in 1866 during the Third War of Independence. The statue is 3.83 m high, set on a 3.30 m column, with a base of Istrian stone and a bronze inscription.
